The downloadable archives ship with an examples folder containing pre-made matrix animations.
Feel free to try them out.

How to install

1. Download either DotMatrixJava.tar or DotMatrixJava.zip depending on your personal preferences
2. Unzip the downloaded archive(s)
3. cd into the unzipped archive to DotMatrixJava/bin
4. Run the binary corresponding to your OS
